HISTORY
August 7, 1961 – Agreement reached with city of Spartanburg for urban renewal of Gas Bottom area.
March 25, 1970 – First tenant moves into Northside Apartment Complex.
February 2, 1971 – Cammie Clagett Courts built in cooperation with the city to furnish housing within the Urban Renewal Highland area project.
April 27, 1971 – Authority’s territorial jurisdiction extended to include the area served by the Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District.
June 30, 1971 – Archibald Rutledge Apartments, the Authority’s first senior citizen complex, opened adding a 12 story high-rise to the North Church Street area.
